Curved Roof Systems

When you want to add a curved roof or fascia to your design, MBCI offers the choice in three distinctive and complete panel systems for your use: Curved BattenLok, Craftsman SB and FlexLoc. Whether the roof will be installed over a solid deck or open framing, MBCI has a panel that fits the application. MBCI has fully tested each of these curved roof systems using ASTM E 1592 and Underwriters Laboratories 580 test standards. In fact, MBCI leads the industry in UL 90 ratings for curved roof panels. MBCI also offers installation manuals for each of these products to aid the roofing contractor in proper installation.

Curved BattenLok

When your roof calls for a curved standing seam metal roof, Curved BattenLok is an ideal choice. The Curved BattenLok profile is a water shedding, curved standing seam metal roof system with a 2-inch tall standing seam that is field-seamed during the installation process. Striations are standard and added for aesthetic value.

Curved BattenLok may be curved to a minimum radius of 20 feet. Curved BattenLok is a structural roofing panel and may be installed directly over purlins or joists. This curved standing seam metal roof system also may be installed over wood decks and metal decks with rigid insulation. Open framing applications eliminate costly curved deck surfaces and membrane underlayments. For large projects and/or long panels, the curving process for the curved standing seam metal roof system may best be accomplished at the job site.

MBCI Warranties

MBCI offers both finish warranties and weathertightness warranties. The finish warranties include the Bare Galvalume and Galvalume Plus Warranty, the Signature 200 and Signature 300 paint warranties and a Technical Bulletin about Saltwater and Marine Atmospheres.

MBCI offers several different types of weathertightness warranties and was the first company in the metal roofing industry to offer a Single Source warranty. Single Source Warranties put the complete burden for proper installation of the roof system* on MBCI from the date of substantial completion. MBCI offers three levels of Single Source Warranties depending on the level of project the building owner requires.

*Roof system is defined as the MBCI furnished roof panels, flashing and related items used to fasten the roof panels and flashing (including roof jack and curb attachments pre-approved in writing by MBCI) to the roof structure.

Craftsman SB

The Craftsman SB series profile may be factory or field curved by an approved MBCI applicator to a 4-foot minimum radius. Available in 12-inch or 16 -inch widths, the Craftsman SB panels are water shedding and must be installed over a waterproofed solid substructure. Craftsman SB is UL rated over wood deck under Construction #280 and over metal deck with rigid insulation under Construction #310. The Craftsman SB series can walk down on radii over 20 feet (the battens must still be curved) and can be physically curved from 4 feet to 20 feet.

MBCI Warranties

FlexLoc

For the designer who wants a barrel vault with a smooth look (no standing seams) and horizontal lines instead of vertical, curved FlexLoc is the recommended product. Its ideal for curved applications or soffits. FlexLoc is a non-structural panel.

Available in 8 -inch, 9 -inch or 10 -inch widths, the FlexLoc panel is clipped down to a waterproofed solid substrate, eliminating panel penetrations and exposed fastened. Because the panels are generally run parallel to the curved surface, no pre-curving of the FlexLoc panel is required.
